The squad was activated on Saturday 14 September at 18:17 following reports from the BWBLSC via the Water Emergency Rescue Committee of a drowning in progress at the Swartkops River Mouth.
On arrival, it was established that an 11 year old child slipped into the river, and fell into the very fast flowing channel whilst the tide was going out.
A search was immediately initiated by the BWBLSC lifeguards and our rescue swimmers joined in. After an extensive search during dark and difficult conditions it was decided to call the search off.
Sea Rescue Station 6 sent their craft Rescue 6A which did a search behind the breakers.
This morning at first light the search was continued by the BWBLSC lifeguards, Beach Office, SAPS Chopper and the NSRI.
At 10:53 assistance for more swimmers was requested by the BWBLSC and the squad was activated to respond to BWB to assist with the search, but unfortunately again despite the extensive search nothing was found.
The emergency services will continue the search.

On Wednesday 1 May 2019 the CWR squad was activated following reports from the Water Emergency Response Committee of a drowning in progress at the North End Lake.
On arrival it was established that a single adult male had entered the water, he started experiencing difficulties and disappeared under the surface.
CWR swimmers were deployed, and a local craft from the club provided assistance on the water.
After an underwater search was the victim located and taken to shore. CPR was initiated but unfortunately, it was not successful and the scene was handed over the SAPS.

On Saturday 30 March at 12:42 the CWR squad was activated following reports of a possible swimmer in trouble, and missing near the rocks at Pollock Beach.
On arrival the immediate area was scanned from the rocks and the beach, and numerous people on the beach interviewed to get more information. It was found that the person the caller saw had exited the sea a little earlier and was safely on dry land.

Yesterday, Saturday 23rd March 2019 at 10h47, CWR was activated to a Primary Response - Medical Emergency involving a fisherman nearby the Lookout Point, Marine Drive, Noordhoek. Feedback was the fisherman had collapsed and fell into a rock pool. The location was on the shoreline rocks +- 500 metres from the road (rendezvous point). Access to the area was by foot only.
Initial reports were that an unresponsive fisherman was pulled out of the water medium by first responders who had then initiated CPR. This was handed over local members of the Metro EMS personnel, including an Advanced Life Support Paramedic and NMMM ECP Students.
They were joined by CWR’s Advanced Life Support Paramedic who assisted with the Advanced Life Support level of resuscitation care as well as other members of CWR, Beach Office and Gardmed.
A decision was taken to relocate the patient to an ambulance parked at the rendezvous point whilst continuing with the CPR effort. This task was extremally challenging as it involved uneven rocky ground and loose beach/stone surfaces over a distance of 500 Meters. The relocation and CPR were carried out by members of EMS, NMMM ECP Students, CWR, SAPS, NSRI, Beach Office, Gardmed and other various role players.
Unfortunately, after all these efforts, CPR was discontinued once the patient was in the ambulance.
