10Mar2020 - Kwazakhele False Alarm 11 March 2020

On Tuesday 10 March 2020, at 14:09 squad the CWR squad was activated following reports of a drowning in progress in Kwazakhele. On arrival it was established that a young eye witness (6 years old approximately) reported that she saw 2 young boys entering the water, and they did not come out.

She ran to go and get help, and 10111 was called for assistance.

Our of our swimmers joined the SAPS S&R section in the very dirty and contaminated water and they performed an extensive search of the immediate area.

It was decided that the SAPS would continue to look for the boys at their home in case they have left the scene during the time period that the eye witness went to call for help.

At about 16:00 the search was suspended after a large area was searched with no success.
Shortly after suspending the search did the SAPS inform us that they have just received positive confirmation that both boys have been located, and that they were safely at home.
