05Feb2021 - Rescue Brighton Beach
05 February 2021On Friday 05 Feb 2021, the CWR squad was activated following receiving notification from the Water Rescue Rescue Committee of a drowning in progress at Brighton Beach. On arrival, it was noted that there were 3 casualties in the water, but 2 were very close to the shoreline, with a 3rd casualty in trouble about 150m from the shore, drifting further away.
The casualty seemed to be stuck in a rip current, but was not fighting the current and seemed to be calm and treading water.
The Beach Office lifeguards arrived and entered the water, with swimmers from the CWR following to provide assistance. They reached the casualty and assisted him back to shore.
Well done to all involved.
