20Dec2015 - Drowning 3 Pools, Willows 20 December 2015

Coastal Water Rescue road crew members responded to a call earlier to assist with a landing zone at 3 Pools, Willows Resort after receiving a report of a drowning incident. Unfortunately resuscitation attempts by EMS medics were not successful. Our condolences to the family and friends. Despite the circumstances well done to the all the emergency services for the quick response to the scene, EMS Aeromed3 Chopper, EMS ambulance and rescue vehicle, Beach Office, CWR, NSRI, SAPS, Fire Department, Relay EMS and Gardmed.

24Nov2015 - Drowning Kwa Nobuhle 24 November 2015

Tonight at 18:07  a report come through of a drowning in progress in the Kwa Nobuhle area in the river. The Coastal Water Rescue squad was activated to respond. On arrival it was established that the two young children were swimming in the river when one encountered difficulty, and the friend ran for help. Unfortunately the victim had been under water for some time and a search was initiated. The body of a young victim was recovered from the river by the SAPS Dive Unit. On scene were CWR, EMS, SAPS, SAPS Dive Unit and the Beach Office. Our condolenses to the friends and family of the young victim.

12Nov2015 - Chinese lantern false alarm 12 November 2015

Tonight at approximately 8pm the NSRI received reports of flare sightings in the vicinity of Shark Rock Pier, and shortly after launched their rescue craft Rescue 6A to investigate. CWR activated available members to proceed to the shore of the area to provide shore and ground support. It was established after investigation by the Sea Rescue craft and the CWR members on the shore that the sighting was a false alarm, and was probably Chinese/sky lanterns.

07Nov2015 - Near drowning 3 Pools Resort 07 November 2015

Saturday 7th November 2015, approximately 15h50:: CWR squad responded to a near downing at 3 Pools Resort, Willows. A 25 year old man dived into the pool and did not resurface. The man was recovered from the water and was ressucitated by medics on scene. He also had a suspected spinal injury. He was airlifted by Aeromed 3 to hospital for treatment. Various Rescue units on scene including EMS, SAPS, beach office, etc are to be thanked for a well Co ordinated rescue.

01Nov2015 - Near drowning Wells Estate 01 November 2015

This morning (Sunday) at 8:52 the Coastal Water Rescue squad was activated with a drowning in progress at Wells Estate. On arrival it was established that the patient was already out of the water. EMS paramedics attended to the patient who was transported to Dora Nginza Hospital after being stabilised. On scene was Beach Office, CWR, BWBLSC, EMS, EMS Aeromed Chopper, SAPS and SAPS Dive Unit. Well done to all involved.

31Oct2015 - Near drowning Pollock Beach 31 October 2015

On Saturday 31 Oct 2015, CWR Squad responded to a near downing at Pollock beach. A female swimmer was in distress. Body boarders and lifeguards from Summerstrand Surf Lifesaving Club brought her safely to shore. She was unresponsive. A member of CWR initiated CPR with the assistance of Gardmed. The female was successfully resuscitated and was transported to hospital to be checked by a medical facility for secondary drowning. All rescue services on scene are to be commended for a well professional and coordinated rescue which resulted in another life saved.

02Oct2015 - Hobie Beach Near Drowning 02 October 2015

At 14:33 CWR was activated with reports of a drowning in progress at Hobie Beach. On our arrival it was established that it was a near drowning incident and that the patient had already been retrieved by members of the Beach Office on the jetski. The patient refused any further assistance and a stand down was issued to the squad.

23Sep2015 - Drowning Brighton Beach 23 September 2015

At 14:10 the CWR squad was activated after reports of a drowning in progress at Brighton Beach. On arrival it was established that a member of the the public managed to pull the patient out and CPR was started. Unfortunately resuscitation attempts were not successful and the scene was handed over the SAPS. CWR, Beach Office, BWBLSC, SAPS/SAPS Dive Unit and EMS responded. Our condolences to the family of the victim.
