Swartkops River Mouth 26 April 2013

a boat with 3 individuals on board capsized in the Bluewater Bay mouth. All are safe. Thanks to BWB sector police, NSRI and Beach office for assistance and great work!

Smelly Creek - Boat Overturned 04 April 2013

The Coastal Water Rescue squad were dispatched to a boat which overturned near smelly creek lighthouse Deal Party. The squad was asked to stand down after all occupants managed to get out the water.

Missing fisherman Summerstrand 07 March 2013

Coastal Water Rescue squad was dispatched to assist with the search of a suspected missing fisherman in Summerstrand. All emergency services were on the scene however we could not locate anyone due to heavy swells and limited visibility. The SAPS are handling the scene.

Beach View 05 March 2013

The Coastal Water Rescue squad has been dispatched to a drowning in progress in beach view. No further updates are available at this time. CWR Update: as reported earlier CWR squad was dispatched to a drowning in progress in Beachview. Its reported that witnesses noticed a small Gyro Helicopter crash landing into the sea. All emergency personnel are on scene as well as Coastal Water Rescue members. We do not have further details at this time. CWR update: Good news! It's been confirmed that the Gyro helicopter landed safely at its destination and did not crash land. Thanks to all emergency personnel for responding.

Wells Estate Drowning 13 January 2013

At 14:15 today the squad was dispatched to a drowning in progress at Wells Estate Port Elizabeth. Its believed that a elderly female was seen entering the water and was not sighted again. CWR swimmers and support crew searched for roughly an hour without any sign of the victim before handing the scene over to the South African police service. Metro EMS, Fire, SAPS and NSRI were all on scene.

New Years Day Patrol 01 January 2013

Thanks to all the Coastal Water Rescue volunteers who spent today patrolling the various beaches in Port Elizabeth. We are happy to report an incident free day, with only one call out which was negative. The volunteers still remain on high alert. Our volunteers respond 24 hours a day,365 days a year.
