08 November 2016Tonight at 18:54 the CWR squad was activated with reports of a drowning in progress at Brighton Beach. On arrival further information was received from an eyewitness that three friends were swimming when one started experiencing difficulty, two swimmers exited the water, and that one was missing.
Rescue swimmers were immediately deployed to enter the water and join the Beach Office rescue swimmers who were already busy with the search. A water search was done under difficult conditions with strong currents and rip currents, but unfortunately had to be called off due to fading light.
The search will be continued tomorrow morning.
