28Aug2024 - Double drowning Swartkops River

The CWR squad was activated to respond to the Swartkops on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 19:18, following initial reports of a fisherman who had fallen over the bridge into the water.

Upon arrival, however, it was established that a resident was walking in the area and had heard the distressed calls. He immediately raised the alarm.

BWBLSC was one of the first services on scene, along with Warrant Officer Logs from Swartkops SAPS. Together, they retrieved two casualties from the water and immediately began CPR on one of them.

When the CWR squad members arrived, no further support in the water was needed, and the squad members immediately joined in to assist with the CPR in progress, unfortunately, all CPR efforts were unsuccessful.

The second casualty was handed over to the care of the EMS crew on scene.
