09Dec2022 - Missing swimmer - false alarm
09 December 2022On Friday 09 Dec 2022 the CWR squad was activated at 17:30 following reports of swimmers in distress at Humewood Beach. Shortly after activation was further information received from the Beach Office lifeguards that all was in order and that no furhter response was required and a stand down was issued to the squad.
Less than 15 minutes later at 18:44 a second call came in via the Water Emergency Rescue Committe of a single casualty in trouble at Sardinia Bay. According to the reports received a person snorkeling was seen going into the water, and was not seen again.
Later it was established that the person snorkeling did in fact exit the water but to the west of the beach area.
