13Jan2022 - Drowning Wells Estate

The CWR squad was activated at 16:54 today following reports of a drowning in progress/missing teenager at Wells Estate. On arrival, it was established that a group of friends were swimming at Wells Estate, but one in the group got into trouble in the rip current.

The squad did an initial shore search, followed by a water search, which had to be called off due to very fast-flowing currents which made the task very difficult, unfortunately without any success.

Sea Rescue Port Elizabeth launched their rescue craft Rescue 6B and assisted with search patterns in deeper areas.
