09Jan2022 - Drowning Smelly Creek
09 January 2022Today just after 12pm, just as the squad was about to start its regular training session which was at Schoenies today a notification was received from the Water Emergency Rescue Committee of a drowning in progress at Smelly Creek. The training session was cancelled and the squad was redirected to the location.
On arrival we established that the incident occurred some time earlier, and that a single person was swept out to sea after entering the channel to swim.
Due to the dangerous sea conditions it was not possible to do a water search and a shore search was performed from the dolosse without any success.
