26Jan2018 - Drowning Brighton Beach
27 January 2018On Friday 26 Jan Coastal Water Rescue activated the squad at 06.34 after reports received of a drowning in progress at Wells Estate. After being unable to locate the incident CWR members patrolled the beach from the Coega harbour wall to Swartkops Mouth, and also sent a vehicle to Brighton Beach, where the incident was eventually located.
The resources were redirected to Brighton Beach. On scene it was established that a 66 year old man was fishing, lost his footing and fell into the ocean. Family members who were with him at the time of the incident managed to get him out of the water but he was unresponsive. They started CPR but it was unfortunately not successful.
