03Jan2018 - False Alarm - Kings Beach

The CWR squad was activated today at 16:50 after reports received from WERC (Water Emergency Rescue Committee) of a drowning in progress/missing person off Kings Beach.

On arrival the squad met up with Beach Office members who already had lifeguards in the water and on a jetski searching. According to bystanders they noticed a swimmer in trouble and waving, but it was then established that the reported person had in fact exited the water and was safely on shore.

On scene: Beach Office, Fire Department, SAPS Dive Unit and Coastal Water Rescue with the rest of the WERC member remaining on standby.
