09Aug2017 - Missing Diver Cape Recife

The CWR squad was activated 9 Aug 2017, to assist the NSRI with a shore search between Cape Recife and Noordhoek for a diver that was reported missing after a recreational dive outing.

An extensive search was initiated, with the CWR squad covering the shore area between the Noordhoek and Cape Recife. The NSRI craft searched at sea joined by private boats. The SAPS dive unit had several divers in the water, and the Airforce with an NSRI rescue swimmer on board did aerial searches. EMS was deployed to Noordhoek and on standby there.

The search was called off late afternoon due to fading light, to be continued today.
