08Jul2017 - Drowning Brighton Beach
08 July 2017Today at 14:15, Coastal Water Rescue activated the squad after receiving reports of a drowning in progress at New Brighton Beach.
It was established that 3 friends were swimming when one got into trouble.
Both NSRI and BWB Rescue launched their craft. On arrival on scene two CWR rescue swimmers got onto the BWB Rescue rescue duck to perform a water search.
Shortly thereafter the victim was observed by rescue personnel on shore, and the craft was directed to pick up the victim. The victim was brought to shore and CPR was immediately initiated but was not successful.
